Password Assistance
Password Requirements

ECom Accounts
ECom accounts allow login access to:
- Email and personal calendars
- Campus computers
- Network storage space
Your ECom password will not expire unless it becomes compromised or potentially compromised. You may change your password at any time.
To change your ECom password:
- Go to wiu.edu/changepassword
- Enter your current user name and password information
- Follow the prompts
Note: If you use a mobile device (iPad, smartphone, or other tablet), a 3rd-party e-mail client (Outlook, Eudora, MacMail, etc.), or other systems that use ECom accounts (i.e., Dreamweaver), you must update your password on these devices and programs after changing your password.
If you forget your password, you will need reset your password by visiting wiu.edu/reset  or by contacting the uTech Support Center to have access reestablished.
STARS Accounts
STARSÂ provides students, parents and alumni access to their financial accounts, course schedule, registration, grades, transcript data, etc.
You must change your STARS password at least once every 120 days. You will be prompted to change your password when this deadline approaches.
To change your STARS password:
- Log in to STARS with your existing PIN at /stars
- In the STARS Password change window, enter your current PIN and then enter a new PIN
- Your new PIN must be exactly 8 characters and contain one or more numbers and one or more alphabetic letters
- You can not reuse any of your last 10 passwords
If you forget your password, your account will be locked after 5 invalid login attempts. Should this happen, you may unlock your own account by answering previously established user-defined questions. Otherwise, you will need to call 309-298-8324 (309-298-TECH) or bring a picture ID to the Office of the Registrar in Sherman Hall, the uTech Support Center in 126 Stipes Hall, or the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼-Quad Cities campus to have access reestablished.
MVS/°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼P Account
MVS/°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÀúÊ·¼Ç¼P, which is accessible via the as well as the 3270 "black screen" clients, must have passwords changed every 90 days.  When your password expires, you will be prompted to change it upon login into the system.
If you forget your password, your account will be locked after 3 invalid login attempts. Should this happen, you will need to contact the uTech Support Center to have access reestablished.
